[guerilla-drive-in] REMINDER: NETWORK at Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In: Friday September 25 8pm

The Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive In presents...

Network
"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!"
Friday, September 25
8pm
Location: Sentinel Parking Lot (adjacent to downtown Library)

Winner of 4 academy awards, this scathing satire on the corporate takeover of the news, centers on Howard Beale - a laid off anchorman who goes ballistic on national television. Media madness reigns supreme as Beale is rehired to be a prophet on the "Howard Beale Show." Themes include the god-like power of television, infotainment, and the corporate co-optation of rebellion.

The Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive In is an outdoor movie theater under the stars that springs up unexpectedly in the fields and industrial wastelands. Beyond showing great free movies year-round and bringing a broad community together, part of our mission is reclaiming public space and transforming our urban environment.

PLUS thrilling and funny short films, an intermission, and great company.

BRING blankets, pillows, friends, drink, & snackies to share for intermission. Donations to support the project are more than welcome.

The Third Man POSTPONED until next Friday

Dear Guerilla Drive-In supporters.

As you may have noticed, our website indicates that there is a Guerilla Drive-In showing of the movie The Third Man this Friday (October 2nd). If you were at last week's showing of Network, you might have heard me say something about it, as well.

On our website it says this: "In honor of Wes' birthday, we show his candidate for best film ever made." Since it is one of Wes's favorite films ever, and since it is, afterall, his birthday showing, we want to make sure he is in tip-top shape and can not only pull off the preparations for the film, but also enjoy watching it. Due to a recent bicycle accident, being in tip-top shape will not be likely if we do the film tomorrow.

Hence, the movie is being postponed until Friday October 9th. By that date, we all hope that Wes will be feeling better. So, send thoughts of positivity and healing and get prepared for an awesome time on Friday, October 9th!

Santa Cruz Guerilla Drive-In presents
The Third Man
Friday October 9th, 8pm
In San Lorenzo Park

Always Free!

Challenging the laws that make public space off limits to the public after sunset, we move to San Lorenzo Park to show the only film ever shut down by the authorities (three times). In honor of Wes' birthday, we show his candidate for best film ever made. Great filmmaking in glorious black and white, a twisting plot, a haunting setting in post-war Vienna, a menacing Orson Wells, and fantastic zither music by Anton Karas. A grand late-summer GDI celebration with a whole park filled with food, drink, blankets, people, parents, young ones, elders, punk kidz, workin' folk, and students.
