They Live (1988)- Part science fiction horror and part dark comedy. The ruling class within the moneyed elite are in fact aliens who have hypnotized the populace through subliminal messages transmitted via mass media. Nada (Rowdy Roddy Piper) joins the underground to eradicate the lizard-like aliens, which are revealed when he looks through special Ray-Bans developed by the resistance.

Directions: on River St. cross Hwy 1 and turn left at Encinal (at light). Go down the way a bit. Turn left at Debois St. and screening will be in a field on the right.

PLUS short films, an brief intermission, and great company.

The China Syndrome	8:30 pm July 29th
Journalists discover safety cover-ups at a nuclear power plant (in California), during an earthquake. Whoa!!! Risking their jobs and their lives, they attempt to expose the truth. This 1979 suspense-drama was nominated for 4 Academy Awards. Location: The Green Station, corner of Ocean & Soquel Ave.
WALL-E	8 pm Aug. 26th
The modern day classic: In the distant future, a small waste-collecting robot inadvertently embarks on a space journey that will ultimately decide the fate of mankind. Location: Beach Flats Community Garden
The Big Lebowski	8 pm Sept. 30th
"Dude" Lebowski, mistaken for a millionaire Lebowski, seeks restitution for his urine-stained rug and enlists his bowling buddies to help retrieve it. Location: TBA (check website for update)
The Fly vs. The Fly	8 pm Oct. 28th
The Fly (1958) vs. The Fly (1986) projected simultaneously. In the 1958 version, Andre, a scientist working on teleportation, accidentally merges his own atoms with those of a fly. He winds up with the fly's head and arm, and the fly winds up with Andre's head and arm. Croenberg's The Fly (1986) is more of a re-conceptualization than a remake. It deals with themes of disfigurement, the darker aspects of human emotions and behavior, and a doomed love affair. Location: to be announced
